There is an interesting article in the Time magazine this week, it’s about twitter, a service that I just use for couple of weeks. Lev Grossman (the author) throws one good question: what do we really get out of twitter, aside from interruption?
Of course we (the twitter users, twitterania) have enough ammunition to answer that question. But to be honest, there is no better answer than the one that Mr. Grossman already mentioned: an interruption!
For some, interruption is undesirable, but for the others perhaps it is one thing that they are looking/waiting for, just like a commercial break in TV when we need to go to the toilet during one interesting shows or movie.
Back to the twitter, just like any other product, we should be the one who control it, not the other way around. It is up to us, totally, to make our tweet a desirable interruption for our follower and please don’t forget that we can choose the best fellow twitter to be a desirable source of interruption.
These are some simple steps to make your be a better twitterania:
1. Define your purpose of twittering.
2. Choose carefully who you follow.
3. Put some limit on your twittering (e.g. no more than 3 times a day)!
4. Try to tweet something useful for your follower(s).
5. Live your own life! Enjoy your day, and share other things with people around you, a smile, a cake, a cup of coffee, or else - not only a tweet!
I hope many of you will tweet this article back to me – as a reminder for my self!
Sweet Tweet

Today is all about statistics. As I wrote in my other post, I like politics, but in the same time I hate the way politicians abusing statistics for their benefit.
Several days ago I looked some materials for my article and I found a nice statistics book in the library. It’s entitled: Data Analysis for Politics and Policy from “The Da Vinci of Data” Prof. Edward Tufte. Today I found out that Prof. Tufte made the book available for free. For all of you who is interesting with statistics and politics I really recommend you this book (you can get it here).
For complementary reason I add another source of material which I think would be useful. The material is provided by Michael Lavine ad you can get the whole material here (book and data). It is not so practical as the above book but it provide you enough theoretical background related with most of statistical data analysis presented in the first book.
Enjoy!

Today some how I landed to some articles related with the recruitment method. The first article remind me that a talent can be found anywhere and the second remind me that it need a lot of work (and long process) to find the right one.
Some friends of mine asked me to explain Bayes’ Rule. It is a simple and interesting concept to understand. Most of my explanation are based on the following articles:
I always think that Politic is one interesting field. Some may say it’s dirty as it can be, but still many people jump on it.
Some time it (politic) likes a big theater, full with BIG names and famous actors. Moreover, it’s a never end show and between the act, we (the ordinary citizens) receive a direct effect (good or bad) from the show. It hard to find some think more interesting than this.
Now in theater: How deep is your love (to the party or to the country)!
My interest in politic does not prevent me to dislike most of politician. I mean , I just don’t understand the way they are thinking, and it is difficult to like a person when you don’t understand him/her.
I am alive…
Believe it or not all of this financial mess up in the world has effected me a lot. It makes me read more stuffs but write less. So, for efficiency and economical reason, start from today I will just post some links (to an article or another blog post) that I find interesting and hope all of you will enjoyed the way I do!
These are for today:
One of the best explanation related with credit crunch: Mummy, what’s a credit crunch?
Another solution that looks great but basically we never know: “Good Banks”
One apple a day keep the doctor away…holding apple stocks today keep your stress away.
Apple has brought the Internet to the next level. That level that everyone expected during the tech bubble has arrived. The efficiency of distribution is impossible for the traditional model to compete with. Consumers are eating this thing up. During a quarter in which consumers supposedly quit spending, Apple grew real revenue by 54.5% and grew net income by a staggering 81.2%. That kind of growth is absurd for a company as mature as Apple. That kind of growth is absurd during an economic collapse. But it happened. And it’s just beginning. The $199 price tag on the iPhone was a brilliant move by Apple as it allows them to fly below the radar of the economic downturn. The iPhone is the must have item for the holidays; teenagers and adults don’t even want any other gifts and they’ll be happy as long as they get their iPhone, and it’s not just because of the touchscreen or the safari internet browsing. It’s because the App store is the gift that keeps on giving.

Long ago, Sir Isaac Newton gave us three laws of motion, which were the work of genius. But Sir Isaac’s talents didn’t extend to investing: He lost a bundle in the South Sea Bubble, explaining later, ‘I can calculate the movement of the stars, but not the madness of men.’ If he had not been traumatized by this loss, Sir Isaac might well have gone on to discover the Fourth Law of Motion: For investors as a whole, returns decrease as motion increases.

You know what I usually do if I get confused or stress? I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth ( today, I already brushed my teeth 3 times and still counting) or I stand in the kitchen and cook everything that I can cook!
Both of my way of reducing stress are ineffecient because those activities use a lot of resourses and I usually still have my stress afterward. Some people use tobacco (smoking) to relieve stress, I tried that some years ago and I stop after I learn that I won’t be able to pay my upcoming demand of cigarretes. I did not say that brushed teeth or cook everytime I get stress is healtier than smoking (especially if you cook most of the things with a lot of oil and chili), but at least the outcome of those activity will not harm people around me, some time they even get some benefit from it (in my case: fresh mouth or spicy food).
I am not an anti smokers, but yes I will be happy if people do not smoke around me and when the goverment start to ban smoking in public place (some new study even state that smoking ban saves lives). Perhaps if we can motivate people to change their smoking habit to brushing teeth or cooking and sharing food with others, we can save more money and lives!
Lets brush teeth/cook and save the world!
